Asperger’s Syndrome is similar to autism with one primary difference: autism causes delays in language development whereas Asperger’s does not. People with Aspergers may have unusual speech patterns or may speak without inflection, as though the emotional content is missing, but their language skills are normal. There are no specific tests that can detect Asperger’s syndrome, but many people with Asperger’s have coordination issues and low muscle tone that a doctor may be able to recognize.
